Summary: I'll never buy another Toshiba product
Comment: Bought this TV in May of 2005. It died in early March. The parts have been on back order since then. If you want a nice heavy paperweight I would suggest this product.

Summary: Very Good TV for the Money
Comment: After a lot of researching on the web and in some publications, I decided to buy this high definition television (but not from Amazon). First, let me say that it has terrific picture quality-very clear and sharp. The speakers are also very good compared to other televisions that come with speakers.
More and more HDTV manufacturers are including a high definition tuner with their sets. It is useless to have one. All you need is one that is HD-ready. Think about it, if you want to use all of the features that are provided by your cable/satellite company, then you NEED to have their HD recievers anyway. Plus, you will save a ton of money with an HDTV that does not include the HD tuner.
Also, Toshiba has been rated by Consumer Reports has having the lowest instances of repair for their tv's when compared to other brands. Please keep in mind that this was for conventional tv's. Plasma tv's are too new to have an accurate and comprehensive repair history. But that is still worth considering. I am hoping-and all you can do is hope at this point-that the company will bring the same reliability standards into their plasma line as well.
My only complaint is the lack of menu options when adjusting the picture and sound. The basic stuff is there (picture, contrast, bass, treble, etc.), but it leaves you wanting a bit more. This is the reason why I didn't give it 5 stars. However, you can adjust it enough to get great picture and sound.

Summary: Toshiba 42" TheaterWide is a great deal
Comment: I recently purchased this TV from Amazon.com and the service and delivery were outstanding. The TV was received in perfect condition and was setup by the delivery personal. I found the setup and use of the TV and remote easy to use and the picture quality outstanding, for HDTV and fair to good (depending on TV station) for normal broadcast. I like the stretch option which proportionally stretches the picture to minimize distortion. Stretching does cause some loss in picture quality but it's still an excellent picture. I would highly recomment this Plasma TV as a good value with an outstanding picture quality and abundant connections.
